FOX CANYON

Groundwater Management Agency

The Fox Canyon Groundwater Management Agency (FCGMA) manages and protects both confined and unconfined aquifers within all or portions of four groundwater basins underlying the southern portion of Ventura County.

FCGMA is an independent special district, separate from the County of Ventura or any city government. It was created by the California Legislature in 1982 to oversee Ventura County’s vital groundwater resources. The boundary covers 183 square miles, and all lands lying above the deep Fox Canyon aquifer account for more than half of the water needs for over 700,000 residents in the cities of Ventura, Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Camarillo, and Moorpark, plus the unincorporated communities of Saticoy, El Rio, Somis, Moorpark Home Acres, Nyeland Acres, Point Mugu and Montalvo.

Our offices are located in the Water Resources Division of the Ventura County Government Center’s Administration Building. To meet with us in person, confirm with security upon entry, then make your way through the atrium, up the escalator, to the reception desk. They will contact us to meet with you. 5-Year Groundwater Sustainability Plan Evaluations

FCGMA is beginning an evaluation of the Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GSPs) for the Las Posas Valley Basin, Oxnard Subbasin, and Pleasant Valley Basin. The Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) requires periodical evaluation of GSPs at least every 5 years.

SAVE THE DATE: OPV 5-Year GSP Evals – Technical Workshop 5/30!

Fox Canyon Groundwater Management Agency will hold a technical workshop in support of the ongoing 5-Year Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) Evaluation process in the Oxnard and Pleasant Valley Basins. The upcoming  workshop is a deeper dive into the data and process being used for the evaluations, as requested by stakeholders during the Q&A portion of the April 5-Year GSP Evaluation Scope workshop series for the Oxnard Subbasin and Pleasant Valley Basin.

We hope this workshop will provide valuable context for our technical stakeholders so that they can more meaningfully contribute during the feedback solicitation stage later in the year when the draft is released for review and comment. This workshop will also give stakeholders another opportunity to provide feedback on the progress and contents of the 5-Year GSP as it develops, even before the draft is released.

When:

Thursday, 5/30/24, from 8 am – 12 pm

Where:

County of Ventura Public Works Saticoy Operations Yard

11251 Riverbank Drive, Ventura, CA 93009

Please note that this workshop will be held in-person only, with no remote attendance opportunity. Presentation materials will be made available the week before the event to assist with the discussion. The workshop will be recorded and posted on the FCGMA.org website.
